Ehsan Bayat

Ehsan Bayat is an Afghan-American entrepreneur and humanitarian whose work has transformed media, energy, and community development across Afghanistan. After leaving the country during the Soviet invasion, he earned an engineering degree in the United States and later returned with a mission to help rebuild his homeland.

In 2005, Ehsan and his wife Fatema established the Bayat Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving health, education, and economic opportunity. The foundation has built hospitals, schools, and community centers while supporting programs that uplift women, children, and vulnerable families.

Recognized globally for both his business leadership and philanthropic impact, Ehsan has received honors including the Mahatma Gandhi Humanitarian Award, induction into the NJIT Alumni Hall of Fame, and Afghanistan’s Human Rights National Award. His work continues to focus on creating opportunity, resilience, and hope for communities across Afghanistan.
